PROTOCOL OVERVIEW
Tendon / tissue capacity
System
Tendon / tissue capacity
Target
Finger flexor tendons and pulleys
Primary Goal
Support tendon remodeling, load tolerance, and long-term finger durability
Preparation
No specific warm-up required; begin with light tension and increase gradually
Intensity
2–4/10
Main Work
1–2 sets × 1–4 positions × 15–45 s @ 2–4/10
Duration
~5–10 min

Execution
Setup
- Fold a medium rubber band in half and step into it to anchor it under your foot
- Use one finger from each hand to apply tension, pulling upward from the anchored position
Main Work
- 15–45 s per finger pair
- Continuous sequence with minimal rest
Finger Order
- Middle fingers (single-finger half-crimp position)
- Index fingers
- Ring fingers
- Pinky fingers
Optional second round in open-hand positions
Technical Focus
- Apply smooth, controlled tension (no sudden loading)
- Keep loading stable and consistent
- Use precise finger positioning (no slipping or compensating)
- Maintain relaxed breathing
Stop / Modify Criteria
- Sharp pain → stop immediately
- Discomfort persists after exercise → reduce tension next session
- Increased irritation next day → reduce frequency or volume
Frequency
- 3–5× per week
- Typically performed after climbing sessions or on recovery days
- Avoid pairing with high-intensity finger loading (e.g. max hangs, board climbing)
Expected Effects
Over time:
- Improved tendon resilience
- Improved tolerance to repeated low-level loading
- Enhanced recovery between sessions
- Increased long-term finger durability
