Step 1 — Measure

Measure Performance

Use the StrengthClimbing Tindeq Calculator to analyze Peak Load, Critical Force, W′ and your endurance profile.

  • Identify your likely limiting factor
  • Establish a repeatable performance baseline
  • Compare strength and endurance metrics
Step 2 — Analyze

Analyze Your Results

Turn your test data into a clear performance profile and understand what is limiting your climbing.

  • Compare finger strength and endurance
  • Identify your primary limiting factor
  • Get recommendations based on your results
Step 3 — Track

Track your progress

Save your results in the Performance Dashboard and see how your strength and endurance change over time.

  • Keep your testing history in one place
  • Compare results and monitor trends
  • Retest and adjust your training direction

Take a Look Inside ABEP

Built on real measurement, not guesswork. ABEP is informed by direct field measurements of force production, fatigue and recovery using Tindeq and Moxy Monitor data—not generic energy-system assumptions.

Real Climbers. Real Progress.

What Changes When You Train the Right Limiter

Better recovery, greater endurance and more climbing left in the tank when it matters.

Learned to recover on the wall

“Yesterday was the first time in my life I could rest my way up a wall. I could shake out on smaller holds and recover quickly — I finished routes with a lot left in the tank.”

Sent 8a+ on day 5 in Céüse

“I’m back from Céüse and sent the 8a+ project on climbing day 5 out of 6. A year ago I was unable to even link the ‘easier’ upper part after the hard boulder. Now I did.”

From pulley injury to a 12a flash

“I went outdoors and got an 11c redpoint and a 12a flash. From a pulley injury to a 12a flash — it would not have happened without your help!”

WHY PROGRESS STALLS

Why Endurance Training Stops Working

Endurance is not simply your ability to tolerate more fatigue. It depends on how much force you can sustain aerobically and how effectively you recover between hard efforts.

What Is Actually Limiting You

01

Capacity above Critical Force is finite

Hard climbing draws on a limited reserve. As that reserve is depleted, force production and movement quality begin to decline.

02

Recovery becomes the bottleneck

If your aerobic system cannot restore capacity efficiently, each move begins with less available energy.

03

More intensity can reinforce the problem

Adding more hard intervals creates additional fatigue without necessarily improving sustainable force or recovery.

EXPECTED ADAPTATIONS

What Changes as Your Aerobic Base Improves

The adaptations show up not only in how long you can climb, but in how effectively you recover and repeat high-quality efforts.

On the Wall

  • The pump develops later
  • You sustain useful strength for longer
  • Smaller holds become usable recovery positions
  • Moderate climbing feels more controlled
  • You reach decisive sequences with more capacity available

Between Efforts

  • You recover faster on rests and between attempts
  • Force declines less across repeated efforts
  • You maintain better movement quality under fatigue
  • More attempts remain genuinely high quality
  • Hard climbing becomes more repeatable
EQUIPMENT & SETUP

Two Ways to Run ABEP

For the most precise testing and progress tracking, use a Tindeq with a lift block. If you do not own one, you can complete the program with a hangboard and a simple loading or unloading setup.

Tindeq Setup — Recommended

  • Tindeq Progressor
  • You sustain useful strength for longer
  • Direct measurement of Peak Load, Critical Force and W′
  • Simple retesting with repeatable force data
  • Full integration with the Performance Dashboard

Between Efforts

  • A consistent hangboard edge
  • Weights for adding load
  • A pulley or other unloading system when required
  • Suitable for weighted hangs and multi-repeater testingSuitable for weighted hangs and multi-repeater testing
  • Everything needed to complete the training program
Common questions

Questions Before You Start

Who ABEP is for, what equipment you need and how it fits into a longer-term training plan.

Who is ABEP for?

ABEP is suitable for boulderers, sport climbers and trad climbers. A stronger aerobic base helps you recover on the wall, between burns and between training sessions, regardless of your preferred climbing discipline.

How long does the program take?

A standard ABEP cycle lasts approximately 10–12 weeks. After that, you can retest and decide whether to continue developing your aerobic base or move into more specialized training.

Can I use ABEP during the climbing season?

Yes. ABEP can work as an in-season program and as a reliable default when you do not have a clearly identified reason to prioritize finger strength or anaerobic endurance.

Is ABEP only an endurance program?

ABEP develops the aerobic foundation that supports the rest of your climbing. It helps you sustain force, recover between hard sequences, produce more high-quality attempts and recover better between sessions.

What should I train after ABEP?

That depends on your next limiting factor. More specialized finger-strength or anaerobic-endurance training can be layered on top of the aerobic foundation developed through ABEP.

Do I need a Tindeq?

No. A Tindeq with a lift block is recommended for the most precise testing and progress tracking, but it is not required. You can complete ABEP with a hangboard, weights and a loading or unloading system.

What if I am unsure what to train?

Start with the StrengthClimbing assessment tools. They help identify whether your primary limitation is aerobic capacity, finger strength or anaerobic endurance. When no clear specialization is needed, ABEP is the most broadly useful foundation.

Is access really lifetime?

Yes. The €59 one-time purchase includes the complete ABEP program, all premium tools and content, Performance Dashboard access and all future updates.
