Terms of Use

1. Eligibility

The Services are intended for adults aged 18 or older. By registering, purchasing or submitting test data, you confirm that you are at least 18 and legally able to enter into these Terms. Do not create an account or submit calculator data for a child. A parent, coach or institution must not provide a minor’s personal or performance data without first contacting us and establishing an appropriate legal and consent process.

2. Services and accounts

StrengthClimbing offers educational articles, training protocols, performance calculators, saved test history, cohort comparisons, digital programs, memberships and remote or in-person coaching. The features, price, payment model and access period for a purchase are stated on the relevant product and checkout pages.

You must provide accurate information, keep your login details secure and notify us if you believe your account has been used without permission. Accounts and paid access are personal and may not be shared, resold or transferred without our written permission.

We may suspend or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users or the Services, investigate abuse, enforce usage limits, prevent unauthorized account sharing or address a material breach of these Terms. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue.

3. Training, climbing and health safety

Climbing, hangboarding, maximal pulling, weighted hangs, one-arm hangs, force testing and other training activities can cause falls, acute injury, overuse injury or aggravation of an existing condition. The Services cannot assess your individual health, technique, equipment or training environment.

• Use appropriate equipment, attachment points, padding, spotting and supervision.
• Follow the stated test or protocol instructions and do not exceed your safe capacity.
• Warm up appropriately and stop if you experience pain, dizziness, numbness or unusual symptoms.
• Do not perform maximal or advanced tests without the necessary experience and preparation.
• Seek qualified medical advice when injured, unwell, pregnant or unsure whether an activity is appropriate.

The Services provide general performance and training information. They do not provide a medical diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation prescription or emergency service and do not replace advice from an appropriately qualified clinician.

4. Calculators, models and performance estimates

Calculator results—including climbing-grade estimates, percentiles, physiological profiles, limiting-factor classifications and training suggestions—are model-based estimates. Results may be affected by measurement error, equipment, technique, test protocol, motivation, fatigue, body measurements, data quality and the population used to develop the model.

Results are not certifications of ability and do not guarantee performance, improvement or injury prevention. You are responsible for checking your inputs, understanding whether a field means added load, total load or unloaded weight, and using the specified test method. We may flag, moderate, exclude or correct implausible, duplicate, non-maximal or protocol-inconsistent entries in saved histories, comparisons and model-development datasets.

Calculator outputs are automated but are not used by StrengthClimbing to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

5. Purchases, payments and access

Prices, currencies, applicable taxes, payment timing and access periods are displayed before purchase. Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. We do not receive your complete payment-card number.

A one-time purchase is charged once. A subscription renews only where the checkout clearly identifies it as recurring and states its billing interval. You may cancel future recurring charges using the account or payment method identified at checkout. Cancellation does not normally end access already paid for during the current billing period.

“Lifetime access” means access for as long as StrengthClimbing continues to operate and offer the purchased product in substantially its present form. It does not guarantee that every feature, calculator, model or third-party integration will remain unchanged indefinitely. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Premium, ABEP and other paid products provide the content, access period and functionality described on their sales and checkout pages. Availability of an experimental, beta or research-dependent comparison may change as models, datasets and legal requirements develop. Paid access does not guarantee any particular estimate, percentile, cohort size or research outcome.

Calculator access for Premium and ABEP users is included in the paid Service and does not depend on research consent. Those users may separately and voluntarily agree to research use of a submission. Visitors and Free Dashboard users may access the calculators through the free research-participation option described in section 7. Other Free Dashboard features remain governed by their individual descriptions and do not automatically require research participation.

Calculator usage limits

Calculator access is subject to fair-use and anti-abuse limits. Visitors and all account holders, including Premium and ABEP users, may perform up to three successful calculations within any rolling 24-hour period. Visitors and Free Dashboard users may perform up to ten successful calculations within any rolling 30-day period, while Premium and ABEP users may perform up to thirty. When a limit is reached, calculator access may be temporarily restricted until capacity becomes available within the applicable rolling window. Additional or longer restrictions may be imposed where reasonably necessary to address automated requests, attempts to evade restrictions, repeated synthetic submissions, extraction of calculator logic or other activity threatening the security, integrity or reliable operation of the Services.

6. Consumer withdrawal, cancellation and refunds

If you are an EU or EEA consumer purchasing online, you generally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason, unless a lawful exception applies. To withdraw, email [email protected] with your name, account email, order information and an unequivocal statement that you wish to withdraw. You may use the statutory model form, but it is not required.

Digital content

For digital content supplied without a tangible medium, such as a specific downloadable file or fixed digital material, the withdrawal right may be lost after supply begins only where the legal requirements are met. These include your prior express consent to begin supply during the withdrawal period, your acknowledgement that you will lose the withdrawal right, and confirmation of that agreement on a durable medium where required.

Digital and coaching services

Ongoing or dynamic access—such as accounts, dashboards, memberships or continually operated online functionality—may constitute a service rather than one-off digital content. If you expressly request that a service begin during the withdrawal period and then withdraw, we may charge a proportionate amount for the service supplied up to withdrawal where applicable law permits. The right may cease after a service is fully performed only where the required request and acknowledgement were properly obtained.

A contractual waiver or checkout checkbox applies only to the extent allowed for the actual product purchased. If the required information, request, acknowledgement or confirmation was not properly obtained, your statutory rights are not removed merely by these Terms.

We will provide remedies required by law where digital content or a digital service is faulty, materially unavailable or not as described. Any voluntary refund promise shown on a product page applies in addition to statutory rights. Except for statutory rights and an express product-specific promise, purchases are not refundable merely because you changed your mind after the applicable withdrawal period.

7. Calculator data, model development and scientific research

Operational calculator processing

When you request a calculation, we process the submitted inputs to produce the requested result, display relevant comparisons, save history where that feature is selected, administer usage limits, detect abuse, maintain security and diagnose errors. Depending on the context, this processing may be necessary to provide the requested Service, comply with law, or pursue legitimate interests in reliable and secure operation. Operational processing is distinct from optional scientific research use.

Free calculator access and research participation

Visitors and Free Dashboard users are offered calculator access without monetary payment through participation in StrengthClimbing’s climbing-performance research and model development. For those users, an affirmative research-consent choice is required before each calculator submission is processed. If research consent is not given, that free calculation is not performed and no calculator submission is accepted.

This is presented as a choice: the person may participate and use the calculator without payment, choose not to use the calculator, or obtain a paid product that includes calculator access without compulsory research participation. Refusing research consent does not remove unrelated content or account functions already available to the person.

Premium and ABEP calculator access

Premium and ABEP users may use the calculators without consenting to research. Their research choice is optional and is presented separately from acceptance of these Terms and from the calculation request. Declining or withdrawing research consent does not prevent their ordinary calculator access during the paid access period.

Accepting these Terms, opening an account or purchasing Premium or ABEP does not by itself constitute research consent. We will not treat silence, a pre-ticked box, marketing consent or consent to another purpose as research consent.

Data involved

Depending on the calculator, data may include an account or pseudonymous identifier, test date, age confirmation, body weight, height, arm span, climbing grade, training history, test method, hand or arm used, edge depth, hang time, added or reduced load, force values, Critical Force, work capacity, calculated results, calculator version and data-quality flags. Technical records may include timestamps, security logs and pseudonymous request identifiers. Do not enter medical records or unnecessary sensitive information into free-text fields.

Research purposes

Subject to the applicable legal basis and research notice, data may be used to:

• validate, calibrate and improve climbing-performance models;
• study relationships between measurable physical qualities and climbing performance;
• evaluate protocols, model accuracy, grade bands and cohort distributions;
• prepare scientific articles, conference materials and educational summaries; and
• support compatible research in climbing performance, testing and training.

Consent records and withdrawal

Where research relies on consent, we may record whether consent was given, the exact consent version, timestamp, calculator and related submission identifier so that the decision can be demonstrated. You may withdraw that consent at any time by emailing [email protected] and providing enough information to locate the relevant records. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful, but it stops future consent-based processing of identifiable or pseudonymized records that we can reasonably identify, subject to applicable research and legal safeguards.

After withdrawal, a Premium or ABEP user may continue to calculate without research participation. Because research participation is the basis on which calculator access is offered without monetary payment, a visitor or Free Dashboard user who withdraws research consent will not receive further free calculations unless they make a new, valid research choice for a later submission or obtain qualifying paid access. Withdrawal does not remove unrelated Free Dashboard functions.

We cannot identify or remove information that has already been irreversibly anonymized and no longer relates to an identifiable person. Withdrawal also cannot undo aggregate analyses or publications already completed, although identifiable data will not be newly disclosed after withdrawal without another lawful basis.

Privacy safeguards, sharing and retention

Research records are pseudonymized or anonymized where reasonably possible. Research working files use a study identifier rather than a public nickname, account ID or original database entry ID wherever practicable. Names, email addresses, IP addresses, public-facing nicknames, exact account-linked identifiers and unnecessary free text are excluded from research publications. Published findings use aggregate statistics, model parameters, charts or de-identified examples and will not intentionally identify an individual.

Access may be provided to authorized service providers, research collaborators, statisticians, academic institutions, ethics reviewers or journals where reasonably necessary and subject to appropriate confidentiality, data-protection and purpose limitations. StrengthClimbing does not ordinarily publish the row-level research dataset. Proposed sharing of row-level information or any material re-identification risk will receive additional review and, where legally necessary, additional consent.

Identifiable or pseudonymized research data is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the documented purposes, reproducibility, dispute handling and legal obligations, with periodic review. Irreversibly anonymized information may be retained for longitudinal analysis and research archives because it is no longer personal data.

Historical records and research limitations

Calculator records submitted under an earlier affirmative research-consent statement may continue to be used within the purposes described when that consent was collected, unless and until the person withdraws consent, to the extent permitted by applicable law. A later Terms or consent version does not expand the scope of an earlier consent or retrospectively create consent where none was recorded. Historical records without an appropriate legal basis are not treated as newly consented merely because these Terms were updated.

Users perform tests independently and usually without direct research supervision. Data may be self-reported and may contain measurement, protocol or reporting errors. Research outputs will describe relevant inclusion criteria, exclusions and methodological limitations. Permission to use a record does not guarantee that it will be included in a study.

8. Privacy, lawful processing and cookies

Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy describe processing activities, retention and service providers in more detail. If a specific calculator or research notice provides more detailed information for a submission, that specific notice applies to that processing.

Depending on how you use the Services, we may process personal data to:

• provide calculators, accounts, dashboards, purchases, coaching and support;
• process payments and keep legally required transaction records;
• secure the Services, prevent fraud, enforce usage limits and diagnose errors;
• send requested service communications and, with consent where required, marketing;
• measure Site use through permitted analytics; and
• conduct model development or scientific research under an appropriate legal basis.

Legal bases may include performance of a contract or requested service, legal obligation, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Services, and consent. Legitimate interests are used only after considering necessity and the rights and interests of affected people. When processing relies on consent, it may be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing.

We use providers for hosting, security, payments, email, memberships, analytics and content delivery. Some providers may process data outside the EEA. Where required, transfers are protected by an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful mechanism.

Non-essential analytics or advertising cookies are used only according to your cookie choices where consent is required. You can change those choices through the Site’s cookie settings. Essential storage may remain necessary for login, security, checkout and requested functionality.

9. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to personal data, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability or withdrawal of consent. Some rights have exceptions, including where records must be retained by law, research safeguards lawfully apply, or data has been irreversibly anonymized.

Send requests to [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity. EEA residents may complain to their local supervisory authority or Poland’s President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), uodo.gov.pl.

10. California and other US privacy notices

Where a US state privacy law applies to StrengthClimbing and your information, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a portable copy of personal information; opt out of legally defined sale, sharing or targeted advertising; limit certain uses of sensitive information; and appeal a refused request. These rights and statutory thresholds vary by state. Submit requests to [email protected]. We may verify your identity and an authorized agent’s authority before responding.

StrengthClimbing does not sell personal information for money. Some analytics or advertising technologies may be legally treated as “sharing,” “targeted advertising” or a “sale” even where no money changes hands. Where applicable, you can opt out through the Site’s cookie or privacy settings. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

11. Intellectual property and user content

Unless stated otherwise, the Site, calculator code and logic, models, written materials, graphics, videos, protocols, programs, branding and downloadable content are owned by or licensed to StrengthClimbing and protected by intellectual-property law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use content you have lawfully accessed for your own training or internal coaching reference.

You may not republish, sell, systematically extract, scrape, reproduce substantial portions, reverse engineer protected calculator logic, distribute paid content, share account access or use the Services to create a competing dataset, model or product without written permission. Normal quotation, linking and uses permitted by mandatory law remain allowed.

You retain ownership of comments, testimonials, photographs and other original content you submit. When you intentionally submit content for public display, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce and display it for operating and promoting the Services. We will obtain separate permission before using a private coaching message, identifiable case study, photograph or testimonial in public marketing unless your submission clearly requested public posting.

12. Acceptable use

You must not:

• submit data you know is false, misleading, unlawful or belongs to another person without authority;
• attempt to bypass account, payment, rate-limit, moderation or security controls;
• use automated requests, scraping or repeated synthetic entries to extract calculator logic or disrupt datasets;
• upload malicious code or interfere with the operation of the Services;
• infringe privacy, intellectual-property or other legal rights; or
• use the Services for unlawful, abusive or deceptive purposes.

We may remove content, reject entries or restrict access reasonably believed to violate these rules. Administrative test entries and authorized research imports may be handled separately from public comparison data.

13. Availability, updates and third parties

We work to keep the Services accurate and available but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may correct errors, improve models, change features, update training content or perform maintenance. Material changes affecting paid access will be handled reasonably and in accordance with mandatory consumer law.

The Services may link to or depend on third-party websites, devices, software or payment, email, analytics and hosting providers. Their services and terms are outside our control. A link or compatibility reference does not mean that the third party endorses StrengthClimbing.

14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee particular climbing, health, training, research or commercial outcomes. You remain responsible for training decisions, input accuracy, safe execution and obtaining appropriate professional advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StrengthClimbing is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost opportunity, or loss caused by inaccurate inputs, unsafe training, misuse of equipment, unreasonable reliance on an estimate, third-party failure or events beyond our reasonable control.

For users acting for business purposes, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from a paid Service is limited to the amount paid for that Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This contractual cap does not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited. For consumers, no exclusion or cap in these Terms limits mandatory remedies or liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or limit, including liability for intentional misconduct.

15. Governing law, complaints and changes

These Terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of habitual residence. You may bring a claim before any court that has jurisdiction under applicable consumer law.

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a complaint. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from contacting a consumer-protection authority, data-protection authority or competent court.

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Services, law, security requirements or providers. The current version and effective date will appear at the top. Material changes apply prospectively and, where legally required, we will provide additional notice or ask for renewed agreement. Changes to these Terms do not retroactively create research consent or a new legal basis for historical processing.

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply. Failure to enforce a provision once does not waive the right to enforce it later.
